WWS Updates


POSSIBLE WWS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

We are exploring interest and formulating a plan to put together a charity golf tournament in support of The Oregon Food Bank. Contact us if are interested in serving as a team captain, which would include putting together a foursome to participate in the tournament. Funds raised beyond covering the tournament fees will be donated to The Oregon Food Bank.


WINE STORAGE RATE COMPARISON

We recently took some time to compare our storage rates with various wine storage facilities up and down the west coast. While our pricing on smaller lockers, sizes 27 cases and below, are quite comparable, larger lockers are a different story. As lockers get larger, pricing increases significantly relative to WWS pricing.

Here is a synopsis of approximate additional cost percentages charged by other storage facilities compared to WWS.
  • 45-63 cases > 9%
  • 84-112 cases > 21%
  • 180 cased > 32%
  • 6×8 locker > 35%
Most facilities do not share prices on their websites for custom large lockers, however, based on the trends above, it can be inferred our pricing is considerably less for our largest walk-in lockers.


MEZZANINE BOXES

As our mezzanine clients continue to add wine to their collections, please make every effort to hand off full boxes, and to securely tape them. This assists with safe storage. If you are interested in additional, low-cost storage, please reach out.

Please help us limit liability by taking your leftover wine back to your locker or home with you when you have finished using the tasting room. All wine consumed should be personal wine opened by you and your friends.

SILAS WINES – SPECIAL TASTING

WWS client, Alex Clark, will be on hand Wednesday, April 17th from 5:00 to 8:00pm to pour a sampling of their outstanding wines for WWS clients and their guests. Alex is the winemaker for Silas Wines and has an extensive background in the wine industry. Since 2008 Alex has been making Silas Wines with an attention to small batch production, using old-world techniques. The winery is offering extensive discounts to WWS clientele, including 30% off on case purchases. If you are interested in the list of wines being poured, along with tasting notes, please shoot me an email.

BLACK DREAMS VENDING

We are pleased to announce our new vending partner, Black Dreams Vending. Owned and operated by Junior McDonald, we are looking to offer WWS clients a larger variety of quality food items. If you have any suggestions for something you’d like to see, please let us know.

    18-YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

    WWS clients and their guests are invited to join us in celebrating our 18th year in business on Wednesday, March 13th starting at 5:00pm. We will provide pasta from our good friends across the street at Fillmore Trattoria. We will also have a contest for a 1.5L bottle of Cristom, Eileen Vineyard, Pinot Noir.     WAITING LIST / EXPANSION

    We are in the later stages of our final major locker expansion. For those on the waiting list, look for an email from me in the coming weeks with details of your available options. If you are looking for a larger locker, now is a good time to reach out to me to get on the list.

    TASTING ROOM GUEST LIMIT

    WWS clients are asked to please remember that the guest limit is 3 per client while utilizing the tasting room. The tasting room is busy most of the time and this policy helps with seating and available stemware. Thank you.

        WWS Updates

        HOLDING LOCKER RATE INCREASE

        As WWS has grown over the years, so has the need for our holding locker services. We have two holding locker areas, and both are nearly full. If you have wines that do not fit in your locker upon delivery, we offer two weeks of complimentary storage. Beyond two weeks, we will be charging $5.00 per box per week. Should you have extenuating circumstances, please advise and we can work out an agreeable plan. Thank you.

        VIOLIN WILLAMETTE VALLEY – WINE TASTING

        We are pleased to announce a special Trathen Hall Wines wine tasting at our Wine Wednesday, on December 20 in the tasting room. WWS clients and their guests are invited to taste four of their outstanding wines, all pinot noir, from vineyard designated sites. As a courtesy to WWS clients, they will be offering a 20% discount on all purchases. We look forward to seeing you there!

                    MURAL EXPANSION

                    We hope you are enjoying the mural addition finished recently on the east cellar wall. The original was completed in 2018 on the north facing wall. With many thanks and gratitude to our artist Allison McClay!

                    CREDIT CARD PAYMENT LINK

                    For clients that typically receive their invoices via email and pay by check or calling in a credit card, your invoices moving forward will have a link imbedded where you will have the ability to pay via credit card directly. Let us know if you have any questions.

                    FEDEX

                    In the ever-moving target of shipping wine, we are no longer able to use UPS, but have activated our FedEx account. Please keep in mind if you want to ship your wine, clients will need to use our WWS Shipping Form. They are located in the cellar, and we can email you a digital version as well.

                    • Make sure to fully close box cutters before returning.
                    • Please, no popcorn or shelled peanuts in the tasting room or cellar.

                      BJORNSON CELLARS TASTING – June 14th

                      WWS clients and their guests are in for a special treat! For the first time since the pandemic, we are hosting a winery for Wine Wednesday. We are pleased to welcome Bjornson Vineyards for a tasting on Wednesday, June 14. They will be pouring their WV Pinot and Reserve Pinot, along with a Rose’ and White Blend. Furthermore, they will be extending wine club discounts on purchases as follows >

                      • 6-11 bottles = 15%
                      • 1-2 cases = 20%
                      • 3 cases for more = 25%

                      The tasting will take place from 5-8pm. If you would like copies of the tech sheets for any of the wines, please email me. We look forward to seeing you there!

                      VENDING MACHINE BACK UP!

                      Our vending machine was down for maintenance recently but is now back up and operational. We encourage you to purchase various gourmet charcuterie items to complement the wines you are enjoying in the tasting room…so we can continue to offer this client benefit.

                      Well, after 5+ months of bureaucracy, our UPS & FedEx accounts are now active again! Please note, that due to our preferred carrier status, we get the best rates with UPS. Shipping forms are available in the cellar, or just ask and we can email you one as well. Thank you for your patience.

                      BROKEN STEMWARE

                      The tasting room is as busy as ever, but nonetheless, we are going through stemware at an alarming rate due to breakage. We ask your assistance in doing your best to protect your glass and be cognizant of neighboring stemware. Thanks!

                      VENDING MACHINE

                      The vending machine has been down for the past couple of weeks, but rest assured, the vending company is dedicated to getting it back online as soon as possible. Once back up, please continue using it so we can keep it as a benefit to clients.

                      Arduous is an understatement, but yes, we are still in the process of finalizing our shipping licenses. Please check the newsletter in May for another update or feel free to give us a call. Our plan is to have this nailed down by the end of this month, yet again!

                      TASTING ROOM STATUS

                      • Clear stemware, dishes etc. to the cellar
                      • Dispose of food waste in cellar receptacles, NOT in the tasting room.
                      • Dump spit buckets in the cellar.
                      • Remove corks before placing empty bottles in the glass recycling bins.
                      • Maximum of three guests per client.

                      CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN & MONIQUE

                      On Monday, November 28, a miracle occurred when Monique and Kevin brought baby girl, Nova, into the world. She weighed 8 lbs. 13 ounces. Both Mom and Nova are healthy, and the entire family is thrilled. From the entire WWS community, congratulations!!

                      HOLIDAY HOURS FOR DECEMBER

                      This year Christmas falls on a Sunday, so we will only be closed on a normal “staffed” day on Saturday, December 24th. We will have the cellar staffed on Saturday, December 31st.

                      ALARM AUTO-SET

                      For security purposes, the alarm system will automatically set at 1:00AM each morning. There will still be the standard three-minute audio warning to disarm the system should you be at the cellar or using the tasting room.

At this point, we only have the Postal Annex option, and the rates are extremely high. Again, we are pushing forward for future options with at least one major carrier, but it could be some time until that transpires.                       VENDING MACHINE

                      With the awesome selection of cheeses, meats, chocolates, etc… keep using the vending machine so we can keep it on site… thank you!

                      WINE WEDNESDSAY – FULL VAX ONLY!

                      Below are the dates and themes for September. Please note vaccination restrictions in the next section. We look forward to seeing you!

                      TASTING ROOM STATUS

                      The tasting room is open with the following guidelines and restrictions>

                      · Open 24/7 to those clients fully vaccinated; at least two weeks post your final vaccination dose.

                      · Vaccination status is on the “honor system”, however we may spot-check for confirmation of vaccinations, so please carry your card, or have a photo available.

                      · Those not fully vaccinated, regardless of anti-body levels / status of past exposure to Covid are not permitted in the tasting room.

                      · Vaccinated guests are permitted, with the normal three guest maximum.

                      · Please continue to read our monthly newsletter for future updates.

                      LEFTOVER WINE

                      Please help us limit liability by taking your leftover wine back to your locker or home with you when you have finished using the tasting room. All wine consumed should be personal wine opened by you and your friends.

                      DON’T DRINK and DRIVE

                      Please use alternative transportation, if necessary, when leaving WWS. Here are the two taxi companies we recommend, and UBER or LYFT are great options too…. Radio Cab 503-227-1212 Portland Taxi Cab Co. 503-256-5400
