THIS WEEK’S WWS WINE WEDNESDAY THEME: ZINFANDEL!
This week, we’re taking a journey around the world with one remarkable grape!
Known as Zinfandel in the United States, Primitivo in Italy, and Tribidrag (or Crljenak Kaštelanski) in Croatia—its ancestral home—this celebrated grape has captivated wine lovers for centuries. DNA research has confirmed these names all refer to the same historic variety, with each region offering its own unique expression.
WWS clients and their guests are invited to bring a favorite bottle to share, compare and enjoy. Whether it’s a bold Zinfandel from the Pacific Northwest or California, a rich Primitivo from Italy’s Puglia region, or if you’re fortunate enough to find a Croatian Tribidrag, you’ll discover how climate, soils, and winemaking traditions create wonderfully different personalities from the same grape. Expect flavors ranging from ripe blackberry, raspberry, and plum to cracked pepper, baking spice, licorice, and hints of cocoa.
